Mead has been romanticized in text for years. It is a prominent fixture in many Norse legends and medieval tales. With the literary references tending toward ancient lore, it’s no wonder mead has had a hard time shaking that stigma.
Below is an illustrated list of some of my favorite mead references in literature. The simple illustration is meant to balance out the traditional attitude toward mead to appeal to a more contemporary audience. Let me know if you have any other favorite mead quotes that should be added to the list!
The Lord Of the Rings – The Fellowship Of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien

Enchantment by Orson Scott Card

A Dance With Dragons by George R.R. Martin

Beowulf translation by Seamus Heaney

The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien

Do you sell prints of these?
Hi Marji,
I was planning on creating a run of these posters. You’re interest will push me to do it sooner rather than later!
Are there any specific ones you are interested in?
Thanks!
