This cocktail is perfect for the current weather. There’s lots of snow on the ground here in New England and when that happens, I reach for belly warming bourbon and comforting spices. The Ginger Spiced Apple mead cocktail combines the warm sweetness of Moonlight Meadery’s Kurt’s Apple Pie with Bourbon and a little of the Art in the Age “Snap” – a spirit made with ginger, blackstrap molasses, cinnamon, cloves, vanilla, brown sugar, and nutmeg – all perfect flavors to go with the Apple Pie Mead.
I didn’t want to use too much of this spirit since the flavors are quite powerful. The bourbon I used was Jim Beam (I think the best value bourbon out there) but feel free to substitute with your favorite. Serve with a slice of fresh red apple.
